Churchill County High School Principal Robbin Pedrett says a 17-year-old refused to turn over his bandana to a staff member Friday.

Officials say the student turned aggressive when a police officer asked for the article. Three other students stepped in and were arrested on suspicion of interference with a public officer.

The 17-year-old was charged with resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer. The school was locked down for more than an hour.


So I guess we DO arrest kids for anything in schools these days.  Also how do you get arrested for "suspicion" to interfere?  If you can be arrested for that, every time a cops suspects anyone of a crime they could be arrested.  I highly doubt the kid resisted arrest and assaulted the police officer if all he did was refuse to give up his headband.  Finally, one piece of cloth causes an entire school building to be locked down?  How afraid are we of our kids?

As is typical for American mass media, the article wasn't very clear about what the student did when he "turned aggressive."  If he was just being a typical teenage idiot, the police officer was out of line for arresting him.  If he was actually getting physically aggressive or resisting a lawful request from the officer, then the officer had every right (and obligation) to arrest him.

The same goes for his friends.  If they were just being idiots, that is nothing out of the ordinary.  If they were aiding their friend in resisting a lawful arrest, then each one of them should have gotten dropkicked in the nuts arrested.

Mike Nash, Microsoft vice president for Windows Product Management, made a blog post earlier today on the Vista blog stating that Window 7 will be the official name of... Windows 7.

That's a bit lackluster.  The really confusing thing is that Window 7 is really Windows 6.1.  Windows NT was v4.0, 2000 was v5.0, XP was v5.1, Server 2003 is v5.2, and Vista is v6.0.  Windows 7 is v6.1, which you can see at any command prompt.  Can you imagine a support call about this?

Techie:  Are you running Windows 7?
N00b:  Well, no, it says here that I'm running Windows 6.1...
Techie:  Facepalm.

Seriously retarded.  Hopefully Microsoft will at least have the foresight to increase their product number to 7.0 to match the title.  Of course, since Windows 7 is just an incremental upgrade to Windows Vista (much like XP was to 2000), that doesn't make sense either.
