I really hate what this world is coming to.  Seriously, I'm forced to post twice in the same week links to articles completely devoid of any real research, simply a person spewing forth information with nearly no basis in reality.

This one takes the cake.  The author of this article not only regurgitates the same unfounded information (complete with brand new, spakly buzzwords) as Ms. Hymowitz but even goes so far as to quote the article.

Seriously?  Who asks 10-13 y/o's questions with complicated words for that age like offspring?  Why not ask the husbands to see if maybe they are playing it to get closer to their kids...ya know...spend time with them and share a common interest?  Not to mention she took a poll of 2 kids and asked them to extrapolate based on their limited knowledge of being around other people's dads?

Also I think it's kinda age-ist to assume that video games can only be for young kids.  When video games first came out, yes they were pretty much played by the young age bracket.  Yet those kids are now in their 30 and guess what....they became fathers after the "moved out of their parent's basements" (/sarcasm).

But how about we reverse the "man-baby" catchphrase?  Women who constantly watch soap operas, Friends, and Sex in The City!  These "slut-women" feel like they are trapped by their oppressive "man-baby" and their "baby-babies" so they need to feel a sense of adventure where women are free to hook up with as many men as they can searching for the big "O" (ask your parents children).  Or be immersed in not even close to reality scripts where twins are separated at birth only to have one of them have amnesia and kill the other one because she was cheating on her step-son...only for it to be only a dream!

These "slut-women" are the only ones who watch shows like these and keep them alive.  Why don't they use their time better, like spending time with their children or cooking their husband a decent meal after they've berated him about being a oppressive male archetype by knocking them up after forcing them to marry him and burden her dreams by giving her children.

Someone punch this chick in her pirate vajay-jay and get it over with.

That article is utter tripe.  We have yet another über-feminist that is hellbent on tearing apart men because of some completely irrelevant trait that many of them share.

Guess what, Kate, this isn't 1970 and video games aren't just for kids anymore.  Video games have a higher gross income than movies, for crying out loud.

Just yesterday, I spent the day in Chicago doing some network maintenance at my employer's headquarters.  My boss and I went to lunch together, and guess what the conversation was:  Nintendo Wii.  He bought a Wii several months back and enjoys playing with his wife. 

I'd guess that both of them are in their early fifties.  Mind you, he's an extremely accomplished and incredibly intelligent executive who probably makes more money in a month than I make in a year.  Does he sound like a "childish" person to you, simply because he enjoys the occasional Wii game?  What a ridiculous statement.

Over the last fifteen years, video games have grown from childhood amusements to a new form of popular media.  There probably weren't many adults that bought Super Nintendo systems for themselves, but I'd wager the majority of the current consoles (Wii, PS3, XBox 360) were bought by adults for their own use.

In my defense, the PS3 was a belated Christmas gift to Meredith and I from her brother and sister-in-law.  They're absolutely crazy.  It randomly landed on our doorstep last Wednesday and we had no idea it was coming.  It came with a free copy of Spiderman 3 on BluRay (that we haven't watched yet), but no games, and I don't have any cash in the game budget this week.  As such, I won't really have a chance to check it out until next week at the earliest.

I'm torn between buying Ratchet & Clank or Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.  Both look like spectacular games, but I never really read up on them because I didn't intend to buy a PS3 for a couple years.

You should see our entertainment center now.  It's packed from wall to wall with a VCR, DVD player, Wii, XBox 360, PS3, PS2, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and FC Twin (combined NES and SNES).  Sadly enough, I'm hoping to add a Sega CD and Sega 32X to the collection.  I have no idea where I'm going to put them.
