When Andrew was still alive...and in TR...he had it on his channels and I thought it was a channel all about soap and cleaning...then I found out it was about soap operas.

I don't know if anyone saw Bernake today (head of the "'federal' 'reserve'") but he was telling the govt that they needed a "stimulus package" for the country and get money into the hands of people.

Really?....Really?!

I want to spend 3 million dollars randomly.  Of course that's $3 mill. in US dollars so about a buck fifty?  How about cut back on spending by about 75% and actually back up our dollar with more than pixie dust and good intentions?

Give me a break...America is so close to becoming a third world country I can't stand it!

Yeah, that "Stimulus Package" is going to drive the US dollar even further into the ground.  I swear, the federal reserve has absolutely no concept of reality.

RIAA Plan for RFID Chips in CDs Will Prevent Unauthorized Sharing
By Brian Briggs and Scott Small

Los Angeles, CA - The RIAA is considering adding RFID tags to CDs to ensure that the CD is always with the buyer. With the tracking device, the RIAA and its member labels can make sure the CD buyer hasn't loaned a CD to a friend, or is playing it in an unregistered device.

"Since we can't stop sharing in the virtual world, we might as well take a crack at stopping it in the real world," said Mitch Bainwol, Chairman and CEO of the RIAA.

"Before you can play the CD, you must log on to their website and register all addresses where you plan to use the CD. The CD buyer can enter up to three addresses and three registered listeners. Those locations and people will then be added to our RFID/GPS database for tracking purposes," said Bainwol.

The plan would also require all new CD players to have GPS and RFID hardware installed to help stop piracy. Future plans would include a matching RFID chip implanted into the neck of the buyer.

Brandon Carter of Savannah, Georgia, who is one of the three people left in the US who still buys CDs, was upset by the plan.  "I don't trust the RIAA with that information. If they get hacked, I don't want everyone to know I take my Shakira CD into the bathroom with me."

The increased cost of adding the tracking technology should be minimal. It should, at most, only add another 5 or 6 dollars to the current price of CDs.

Really?  Won't this drive piracy more and/or let people buy songs online and if someone still uses a CD player all they do is burn it with a 15 cent CD-R and some free software.

What about older folks who don't have a computer or won't even know about it or what to do?

Not to mention...is it illegal to give your CD to someone or donate it to charity?  I'm sure people sell CDs back to places like Gamesfly (or whoever does that stuff is called) does.  I just don't understand what RIAA wants to accomplish here.  Are they trying to do what they think is best (somehow you think it's easier to track people in the real world with these magic RFID chips than it is to see who's DLing them) or are they getting so desperate that they aren't thinking right?

Not to mention with all the different types of encryption they've tried to throw on...do they not think that some 8 y/o with a '''puter" is going to figure out how to get around the system.  Remember the encryption they put in that could be bypassed with a black marker around the end?

RIAA...it's time to realize you're a monopoly and not important in the age of the digital...roll over and die.

Ya...this is the 3rd parody from the same people.  I just think they're really fun to play along with...the Rudy story is the best though...so far.

"Blizzard Entertainment, owners of World of Warcraft, announced today that the game now has more than 10 million paying subscribers around the world. Online gameplay costs an average of $15 USD per month. Those 10 million paying subscribers include 5.5 million players in Asia, 2.5 million in the US and 2 million in Europe. The Warcraft brand was first introduced in 1994 and World of Warcraft was launched in 2001."

I've never had the slightest bit of interest in WoW (although Tabula Rasa looks somewhat interesting), but this article is crazy.  Ten million subscribers?  That's over three times the population of Chicago!

I knew there were a lot of Asians that played, but I had no idea there were twice as many Asians as Americans.  If nothing else, it probably keeps the gold auctions low!

Yea I'd say 1.8 billion a year from a game is pretty good. During the Blizzard/Activision merger, they said Blizzard had 550 million dollars of operating profit. Nice.
