You'll have to give this video a few seconds to go from lame to... pretty freakin' cool.

Hey bob, I have a request. We are making a video game that has a gun similiar to your new pistol. I was wondering if you could take pictures of the top, side, and back of the gun in an evenly lit place. We would use the pics to help texture the thing. That would rock...

Thanks in advance...

I can do that.  I'll even break it down for you if you'd like.  Remember, though, that my digital camera was built in 1924 and is uber-ghetto style.  Will 2 megapixels be enough to grab a decent texture from?

yea for sure, our engine limits us to maps of 515x512 pixels anyway. We also have an old school shotgun in there from 1924, so if you happen to have one of those.  Cheesy

thanks again bob, I really appreciate it.

Actually, I do have an old school shotgun from 1924.

Or 1943 anyway.  Close enough.

I'll take some pictures of that, too.

This game trailer is very cool. The game is called World in Conflict and asks the question: What if the Cold war never ended, but instead erupted into full fledged combat?

screens are here:

Im gonna say that those graphics are hot for a rts, and just plain hot in general.
Quote:
One of WiC's main differences from many other RTS games is that there will be NO resource gathering and base building. WiC focuses entirely on strategy and tactics which will ensure that it will be a fast paced and action packed game.

Also included, will be the option to go into FPS mode which will allow you to view the battle from the soldiers eyes and possibly being able to shoot a thing or to while your at it. This is called Direct Fire mode and will not be a massive impact on gameplay, but will surely aid you in winning the battle!

Briney, that game looks pretty sweet.  I'm not sure about the lack of resource gathering, though.  Although it'd make logical sense to leave it out in a "real world" game, it seems like it'd kill a pretty significant staple of RTS gaming.

The "Direct Fire" thing could be cool, but it seems like it'd be rather hard to implement in any moderate or large scale battles.  While you were commanding one of your troops or vehicles, the rest of your army would be getting squashed on the other side of the map.

The premise for the game looks similar to another RTS I tried recently called "Hammer and Sickle," which was published by a relatively unknown indie shop.  The game looked awesome and the training missions were a lot of fun, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to get past the very first mission.  The game was impossibly difficult, even on the easiest setting.  Lame!
