<Img> tags are for straight HTML.  Instead of using <>, use the square-angle brackets next to the "P" key.

Replace {} with square-angle brackets.

You can also place the URL in the text box, highlight it, and hit the Insert Image icon on the toolbar above the smilies.  It's the third icon from the left, and it will automatically insert the appropriate opening and closing tags around the highlighted URL.

I sat in on a speech given by a well known philosopher(forgot his name) and he described this theory in which there will be a MASSIVE technology explosion around the year 2025.  It was called the Moore Law and it basically says that transistor numbers on processors double every year and a half or two years.  All this talking about years made me think of that............

Moore's Law is going to hit a brick wall long before 2025.  Moore's Law has run into the law of diminishing returns, and guess which one will win?

Do you remember when processor speeds used to double every year?  That's stopped rather abruptly about four years ago, around the time the Athlon XP and Pentium IV hit the market.  Intel and AMD are doing a great job of increasing efficiency per clock cycle, but that's only because the sheer quantity of clock cycles isn't increasing at the same clip it once did.

This is having a lot of far-reaching effects.  IBM wasn't able to deliver their promised 3GHz PowerPC chip in 2004, and haven't reached it even today.  This led to Apple kicking them to the curb and adopting the i386 platform.

Application and game developers are working harder than ever to write clean and efficient code because they can't rely on a huge number of extra processor cycles once their product hit the markets.  Back in the day, they could be relatively sloppy with their coding because they didn't need to be conservative with processor usage.  That no longer applies.

Even if Moore's Law would still apply in 2025 (which it won't), I still don't see the connection between that and a supposed "technology explosion."  What's the correlation?

V for Vendetta was a sweet movie. Many parallels between our society today and the distopian society shown in the film. Be aware of segments referring to the government inflicting harm and destruction on its own people to control the masses. Watch how fear is used to keep citizens in check. And theres some fun action sequences to boot.

Saw it in IMAX, which rocked my socks.

Yea, I saw it Saturday night and it was hot.  One good part about it was the absence of guns in every scene.  This guy used only blades and the power of his hands to survive.  Other than that, there were also explosives which appeared very realistic.

Briney, that game looks pretty sweet.  I'm not sure about the lack of resource gathering, though.  Although it'd make logical sense to leave it out in a "real world" game, it seems like it'd kill a pretty significant staple of RTS gaming.

The "Direct Fire" thing could be cool, but it seems like it'd be rather hard to implement in any moderate or large scale battles.  While you were commanding one of your troops or vehicles, the rest of your army would be getting squashed on the other side of the map.

The premise for the game looks similar to another RTS I tried recently called "Hammer and Sickle," which was published by a relatively unknown indie shop.  The game looked awesome and the training missions were a lot of fun, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to get past the very first mission.  The game was impossibly difficult, even on the easiest setting.  Lame!

Oh and for the record.  Marvel has had a copyright on the word - "super-hero" since the early 80's I believe.  They are pretty lenient (sp?) on how they enforce it though.  Usually only going after people who put it on the front of comics.

If you don't enforce a trademark in the appropriate marketspace, you lose it.  Marvel only has a trademark on "superhero" for traditional publications, so they're somewhat bound in what they can pursue.
