Wow, you'd have to be pretty amazing to keep that thing on the track at 70+ mph.  I'd probably ram it into the first wall I came across.

Hell freezes over as Sony drops DRM
Author: Richard Swinburne
Published: 4th January 2008

Buying Sony BMG music should now start to come DRM free - so no longer should it have such a "bite".

Well as Blighty becomes Brighty given the snow fall, it may seem like the end of days is coming as the last major DRM enforcer, Sony BMG music, finally caves in to popular demand. According to Business Week, Sony will drop DRM for at least part of its catalogue and look at new avenues of online music sales through Facebook or MySpace, or with retailers such as Amazon.

Song BMG is the last of the major music labels to drop DRM, following Warner Music Group in December and Universal Music Group in August of last year.

Apparently Sony BMG will be experimenting with DRM-free downloads for around six months, the details of which will be released in the coming weeks and it will coincide with a Pepsi promotion that starts on the 3rd of February to give away one billion songs from all major labels.

The problem is, the first non-DRM tracks to be released will be for artists that sell less than 100,000 units, so making it about as useful as a chocolate teapot for most of us (regardless of how tasty that would be) and the cynic in me expects that it will likely end up being a marketing exercise about how "Sony BGM now offers DRM-free music".

Expect the DRM-free songs to be tagged like similar music is - with the purchasers details, so if they do get released onto the net the supplier can "easily" be caught. It's also another blow to Apples iTunes which has recently seen a spate of companies up and leave to alternatives when deals about how much should be charged for content couldn't be reached. With more music being sold online than ever before and this trend is continuing to grow - it could mean some turbulent times for the online media industry.

Wow, maybe Hell really has frozen over?

...

I can honestly say I never expected this from Sony.  It'll be interesting to see whether or not Sony ends up pushing the anti-DRM initiative to their more popular music titles.

Wow, that's...surprising.

Well, on another note, PAT!  So on another forum they were talking about that crazy 2 girls 1 cup BS you liked.  Well they mentioned a new one!  (well new in that I hadn't heard of this one either)  Didn't say what it was (I still don't know what 2 girls 1 cup is) but the guy said 2 girls was gross but this one had me on the floor in the fetal position crying.

So lets see how brave you are and find out what REMOVED is...

EDIT: So, they posted what it really was, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone...not even bob!

...well maybe bob.

It's funny you should mention that.  I went to Walmart (*shudder*) earlier on a work errand and was standing in line behind - get this - an Asian Amish woman.

She was your typical 4'9 dark-haired Asian girl, but she was wearing the common Amish bonnet with a hand-made skirt and blouse.

Imagine how many perverts I could lure in with an Asian Amish pr0n site?

NEW ORLEANS - Hurricane Katrina's victims have put a price tag on their suffering and it is staggering — including one plaintiff seeking the unlikely sum of $3 quadrillion.

The total number — $3,014,170,389,176,410 — is the dollar figure so far sought from some 489,000 claims filed against the federal government over damage from the failure of levees and flood walls following the Aug. 29, 2005, hurricane.

Of the total number of claims, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said it has received 247 for at least $1 billion apiece, including the one for $3 quadrillion.

"That's the mother of all high numbers," said Loren Scott, a Baton Rouge-based economist.

For the sake of perspective: A mere $1 quadrillion would dwarf the U.S. gross domestic product, which Scott said was $13.2 trillion in 2007. A stack of one quadrillion pennies would reach Saturn.

Some residents may have grossly exaggerated their claims to send a message to the corps, which has accepted blame for poorly designing the failed levees.

"I understand the anger," Scott said. "I also understand it's a negotiating tactic: Aim high and negotiate down."

Daniel Becnel, Jr., a lawyer who said his clients have filed more than 60,000 claims, said measuring Katrina's devastation in dollars and cents is a nearly impossible task.

"There's no way on earth you can figure it out," he said. "The trauma these people have undergone is unlike anything that has occurred in the history of our country."

The corps released zip codes, but no names, for the 247 claims of at least $1 billion. The list includes a $77 billion claim by the city of New Orleans. Fourteen involve a wrongful death claim. Fifteen were filed by businesses, including several insurance companies.

Little is known about the person who claimed $3 quadrillion. It was filed in Baker, 93 miles northwest of New Orleans. Baker is far from the epicenter of Katrina's destruction, but the city has a trailer park where hundreds of evacuees have lived since the storm.

Katrina, which is blamed for more than 1,600 deaths in Louisiana and Mississippi, is considered the most destructive storm to ever hit the U.S. It caused at least $60 billion in insured losses and could cost Gulf Coast states up to $125 billion, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Most of the claims were filed before a deadline that coincided with Katrina's second anniversary, but the Corps is still receiving them — about 100 claims have arrived over the past three weeks — and is feeding them into a computer database.

The Corps said it isn't passing judgment on the merits of each claim. Federal courts are in charge of deciding if a claim is valid and how much compensation is warranted.

"It's important to the person who filed it, so we're taking every single claim seriously," Corps spokeswoman Amanda Jones said.

I will fire this laser, unless you send me one hundred beeeeeelion dollars!

Hey I'm so not a fan of that "film de force" and if there is another movie similar to 2g1c...I weep for all humanity.

Have you seen the paper some kid wrote for school on that movie?  I'll have to find it sometime.

Yeah, I saw it elsewhere.  I considered posting it here in the Picture and Video thread, but wasn't entirely certain it would be appreciated.

Well it's temperature gets to as high as a balmy -5 degrees below Celsius and as low as -87 degrees below Celsius.  Although I would recommend the Cydonia region where you can explore "The Face on Mars" and see if there is an animated alien living there like in Mission To Mars.
