I thought this part of the article was funny, the rest was just sad...so sad.

I think in the background of every frame they should print, "smoking makes you cool!"

The country was hit by a Gayness Meteor™ in 1757 that has altered the fate of the country forever.

I was mocking detriot so much over the weekend for not plowing anything (city run by retards), but I was so sad this morning when I wake up to 4 inches of snow.  Now this doesn't sound like a lot (take one trip to tech and you will see it isn't) but when the city doesn't plow shit it turns into a big deal.  There was a 12 car accident on one highway, and the express lane on 275 now has cars stuck in the snow on it.  One of my bosses called and he has been there since a little before 7am waiting for some honda POS to try and get out of a small snow drift.

What is wrong with cities where they think, "eh it's ok, things will work themselves out."

/headexplodes

EDIT:  Forgot the best part about the accident on the highway, police and ambulances can't get there...why you ask?  Because nothing is freaking plowed!

why were you in detroit?

Let me tell you living there during several snowstorms with an escort wagon was not fun at all! It seems like they have 12 plows for the entire city. Ugh.

I did Google it, but it could've stood for fifty different things.

Great Lakes Invitational?  Is that a track meet or something?

The Science of Toga Parties
By John Tierney

Tags: alcohol, anthropology

Field work can be hell. But thanks to the dogged researchers who attended 66 college parties in Southern California, now at last it can revealed:
Playing drinking games at a party leads to increased levels of alcohol in the bloodstream.
Fortunately, that wasn’t the only result of the investigation reported in the January issue of January issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research. The researchers say their fieldwork, which involved studying more than 1,300 people at parties, is an improvement over past studies that relied on people’s recollections of getting hammered. These researchers made observations at the parties and brought along equipment to test students’ blood-alcohol concentrations (BrACs). One of the authors, J.D. Clapp of San Diego State University, summarizes the findings:
Both individual behavior and the environment matter when it comes to student-drinking behavior. At the individual level, playing drinking games and having a history of binge drinking predicted higher BrACs. At the environmental level, having a lot of intoxicated people at a party and themed events predicted higher BrACs. One of the more interesting findings was that young women drank more heavily than males at themed events. It is rare to find any situation where women drink more than men, and these events tended to have sexualized themes and costumes.
The researchers say they’re planning to do further investigations of themed parties, and I hope they’ll consider letting a journalist accompany them (if necessary, I would go in costume). I don’t know why women would drink more at themed parties, but I do have a hypothesis: Could it be a coping mechanism for dealing with the sight of guys like John Belushi dressed in togas?

Oh, science... what would we do without you?

Taser Unveils Holster With Music Player

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A handy new holster from Taser International Inc. holds not only your stun gun but a music player too.

Taser's latest foray into consumer products was introduced Monday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The holster costs $72.99 on the company's Web site and includes a 1-gigabyte MP3 player.

The company, which also sells its electronic weapons to law enforcement agencies and the military, has been stepping up its consumer product offerings with Tasers in new colors like "red-hot" and "fashion pink."

The latest Taser — in a leopard print and costing $379.99 — "provides a personal protection option for women who want fashion with a bite," said Chief Executive Rick Smith.

Wow, this definitely meets the definition of "random stupidity."

Maybe its a distraction measure...

"What'd I do man, what'd I do?  Don't taze me br...  Hey, I love that song!"

I'm just wondering if the MP3 player comes preloaded with "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor".  If it does, I'll take two.
